Installing IIS or Enabling IIS

IIS isn't installed by default on a standard installation of Windows XP Professional. If you are not sure then it is most likely that it isn't already installed.

Note: For Installing IIS you will need your Windows XP Professional CD with you and you will need to be able to log in as an administrator on your computer.

  1. Go to Start Menu, then select the Control Panel.
  2. Click on Add or Remove Programs.
  3. Click Add Remove Windows Components.
  4. Then Windows Component Wizard will appear, in which choose the components, Internet Information Service (IIS).
  5. Then Click on Next button.
  6. Then Window ASK for Window XP CD, so properly insert the windows xp CD.
  7. Then Click on OK button.
  8. Once your Windows XP Professional CD (or network based installation) is available, then yourInternet Information Services is being installed.
  9. When installation has finished, click Finish button, and restart your computer.
